Egypt & Jordan Tour
We suggest arriving to Hurghada on the stunning Red Sea Riviera for a relaxing start to your tour. Chill on the beach, swim and snorkel among the colourful reefs and enjoy the comfort of a 5-star, all-inclusive hotel before you travel across the desert to start your Nile cruise.
In Luxor you begin your cruise down the Nile. You’ll get daily excursion opportunities to important archaeological sights, including the temples of Karnak and Luxor, the famous Valley of the Kings, Edfu Temple, one of the largest and best preserved in Egypt, Abu Simbel and Aswan High Dam among others. Cruising the Nile from your outside cabin with large window and/or French balcony is the perfect way to explore.
Pushing gently through the ancient waters, as well as the famous sites you also pass rural villages and farmland little changed by time. Oxen bask lazily in the sun and children play on the river banks, stopping to wave excitedly at the passing boats.
Cruising also offers a great way to hop off to visit the temples, including Kom Ombo, the only one dedicated to two gods: the crocodile-headed Sobek and falcon-headed Horus the Elder. Many still have intact hieroglyphics adorning their walls, providing a fascinating insight into Egyptian culture. When night descends and peace ascends, you can hear distant calls to prayer from the minaret towers on both sides of the river. It’s a truly wonderful experience.
Cairo, where you’ll be taken by guided tour to visit the Great Pyramid of Giza — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — and the Great Sphinx, which guards the pyramids. As well as a visit to the new Grand Egyptian Museum which is an absolute must. Also try to make some time to relax and enjoy a coffee while people watching, it’s an important part of the Cairo way of life.
In Amman, there will be opportunities to take a scenic drive along the King’s Highway to the wonder of The Dead Sea. En route, you can call at Madaba, home to an ancient and intricate mosaic of the Holy Land; Mount Nebo, said to be where Moses first saw the Promised Land; and Kerak Castle, a Crusader castle dating from the 1100s.
From Aqaba on the Jordan side of the Red Sea Riviera you will enjoy an amazing guided tour of Petra, an ancient city in the desert with buildings carved out of the sandstone. The Independent says this city is “one of the world’s most compelling historical sites, up there with the Taj Mahal and the Pyramids for romance and visual drama”. From here you can also add on a Wadi Rum excursion too.
Then why not visit Little Petra, Siq Al Barid (Cold Canyon), thought to have served as an agricultural centre, trading suburb and resupply post for camel caravans visiting Petra. The surrounding area is picturesque and fun to explore, especially as it is home to some of the oldest settlements in the world. Before taking a trip through Wadi Rum, known as the “Valley of the Moon” for its desert landscape. ‘Wadi Rum is everything you’d expect of a quintessential desert: it is violent and moody as the sun slices through chiselled siqs (canyons) at dawn or melts the division between rock and sand at dusk; it is exacting on the Bedouin who live in it and vengeful on those who ignore its dangers’ (Lonely Planet).

Luxor… the first stop on your Nile cruise is the “world’s greatest open-air museum” (Lonely Planet), where you’ll spend two days discovering some of Egypt’s most well-known monuments, including the enormous Karnak temple complex on the first day—the temple of Amun in Karnak is one of the world’s largest religious sites, and was where the Theban god lived on Earth.
